Hypnosis becoming more accepted!

December 30th, 2008

A couple of weeks ago in my local newspaper I came across almost a full page article about hypnosis. This article was written by Jane E. Brody of The New York Times.

I think that she did a very good job of portraying hypnosis realistically. She starts off with the experience of her husband who wanted to stop smoking and went to a hypnotist after being unable to quit on his own. He did not think he was hypnotized, yet he has not had to smoke in fourteen years.

She attempts, I think, successfully to clear up some misunderstandings about hypnosis. She has interviewed a number of hypnotists including Dr. Brian Alman who states that “The power of hypnosis resides in the patient and not in the doctor.” In other words if I think that hypnosis will not work at all going in, I am probably correct. If I am open or very positive then it probably will work for me  even if I do not think that I was hypnotized like the authors husband.

The author also talks about some of the uses in medical and dental settings. How hypnosis can be used for pain control and other medical situations. How it can help to eliminate long standing fears and how to change or remove unwanted habits.

Overall I think that she did a very good job of helping people in the general readership population to  get a better understanding of what hypnosis can do for each and every one of us. Well done Jane! Thanks for helping to spread the good word.

Learn Self Hypnosis

December 22nd, 2008

Right now I am a bit excited. I have finally gotten something that I can offer my readers and others that are directed to this new site, Learn Self Hypnosis.

At this new site I am offering a package that includes a full MP3 audio session for learning Self Hypnosis. Also a PDF file that gives background on self hypnosis with an explanation of the process AND the full text of the session.

In addition part of the bonus package is two more MP3 audios. These can be used so that you can record your own process section and sandwich it between the “induction” and “exit” MP3’s for your own personalized session.

Go check it out at the link above and let me know what your reaction to this program is.

Hypnosis and Dentistry

December 11th, 2008

The other day I was listening to the radio when I heard an ad for a local dentist. The pitch was that he was the Sedating Dentist. Make an appointment with him, get drugs to take prior to going to him for your procedure so that you do not suffer any pain.

I figure that the drug salespeople got to him.

I do not need pain meds for dental work! I use self hypnosis prior to going in for what ever needs done to prepare my body for the upcoming event. The pain is optional!

I choose no pain AND no drugs. The Novacaine during the procedure is quite adequate. Many dentists want to give scripts for painkillers for when the Novacaine wears off. My experience after major work (extractions and the like) is no pain due to having prepared my body/face for the event before hand. My body does not resist the invasion, so there is no trauma that is present after the event.

Self Hypnosis works quite well and there are no toxic side effects either. Learn Self Hypnosis and live better.

On my articles page I have a couple of articles about pain control, check them out.

The Olympics and Hypnosis

July 30th, 2008

I just realized that very soon the Olympics are going to be taking place in China. This brought to mind the connection between athletic performance and hypnosis.

These athletes who are going to be participating have been training for this upcoming event for a long time, sometimes most of their lives. They have focus!

They start by working with one or more coaches, and trainers. They start developing their bodies for the event(s) that they feel drawn to. With their support team they start developing their particular routines for their event.

Where does Hypnosis come in? These people have been working toward this upcoming event, sometimes for most of their lives. They spend long hours with their coaches and trainers doing the physical part of their training ( I said that they are focused!). There is also another part that the really good ones participate in, that is the mental preparation for their event.

When they are not physically training, they take time to go over their routines again and again mentally. They work on the fine details of their physical workout. In their subconscious they fine tune their performance by going step by step through their routine to get it perfect.

They are getting into the hypnotic zone. This helps them program their body to execute their routine with perfection so that when they are out on the floor and engaged in their performance they do not have to think about each upcoming move that they need to do for their routine.

When they go out to perform their routine, before they start, they take some time to focus (you can watch them do this), they go into the Zone where they are being operated by the subconscious mind which has also trained extensively for this moment.

Sometimes during their performance they make an error, I believe that this is where they attempt to take conscious control of their performance versus using the internal programming they have developed.

When you see the Gold winner do their routine, what you see in flowing perfection of movement, every muscle is doing just what is needs to do at just the right time. This is the result of excellent self hypnosis in action! They have done that routine thousands of time both physically AND mentally. Self hypnosis is an excellent tool.

Survey Update

July 20th, 2008

While I have my survey online, I have also been asking people on the street their thoughts about hypnosis. I have been getting some interesting answers. One was from a man and his first response was that he had been a successful subject at a stage show at the fair. He was not happy with the experience since when he was brought out of trance the whole audience was laughing at him. When he saw the video of the event he was somewhat upset. He had been told to smack his back side and yell “Who is your daddy?” and he felt he had been made to look foolish. He was in deep trance.

Next he said he had tried hypnosis to stop smoking and it did not work, then he admitted that he was not ready to stop.  He said he had the same results with loosing weight. When I want to eat those donuts I want to eat donuts, so it did not work then either.

Here is an example of a person who is a good hypnotic subject, yet he is not ready to do what is necessary to achieve the results that  he knows would be beneficial to him if he were to really want the results.

A lot of  the other people I talked with knew little or nothing about hypnosis, heard that it exists yet it had never been in any way near their lives so they had no real knowledge about it.

Others thought that it could be beneficial and they would like to achieve better self confidence and self worth, while a few were interested in stop smoking or weight loss.

I shall continue gathering this information to get a broader base for statistical purposes.

Aortic Anurism

July 3rd, 2008

A friend of mine recently was talking wit me about the less than great news that he had just received from his doctor. The Doc told him that he has an aortic anurism and it needed more tests before they go in to remove it.

I was telling him that if in fact they do have to go in that I can work with him so that to him it will be painless. He was liking that part, just does not really enjoy pain. He went in for more in depth testing and it turned out there was no anurism, just arteries that were accomidating too much plaque.

He was very happy that they are not going to crack his chest, and he still carries this reluctance to experience pain so eventually I will get to teach him how to do his own  personal pain control.

Allergies, Now what?

June 13th, 2008

I was watching the Dog Whisperer this evening and there was one particular commercial for allergy relief meds from big pharma. What I saw, was big drug companies pushing their philosophy of “If you feel something, take a pill from us to feel better”. My first reaction to the commercial was that the people should just get over it. Do something positive for yourself to feel better.

I then came into my office and looked at some email. There was a message from Al Sears MD. The title of his article is “Beat Allergies Naturally”. He then goes on to tell us that vitamin C, from lots of fruits and vegetables, Bromelain, from the root of the pineapple tree, and quercetin from many plants including apples, berries, broccoli, squash, and some nuts. All of these together are natures way of dealing with irritations naturally.

He then goes on to explain each of these sources and what they do to reduce/eliminate allergies. And all of the time I thought that I was using self hypnosis to deal with allergies. It appears that I have some help form eating a good diet of natural foods.

I believe in being an active participant in my own health and life. Eat good foods, exercise, do yoga and self hypnosis to help guide the body functions for good health, explore and enjoy life, have fun .

Keith
