Hypnosis - Myth Busters
I was watching “Myth Busters” last night. These are two guys who go to all sorts of extremes to prove or disprove different cultural myths on their TV show.
Last night one of the myths they were working with is that: people under hypnosis can remember more fine detail than they can not under hypnosis.
The setup: They hired two actors to act as delivery people with attitude and edge. They were taping a segment of the program with their crew when these delivery guys showed up. There was interaction and lots of attitude and the delivery guys storming out with the package.
Then they asked the crew to write down all of the details that they could remember about the incident. The result was a bunch of vague memories with little details.
They then brought in a hypnotist to work with the crew, all of them were able to remember major amounts of fine details about the incident.
The final conclusion: People under hypnosis can remember a whole lot more fine detail than those not under hypnosis!
