Hypnosis and Surgery
Sunday, April 18th, 2010A couple of months ago I had the occasion to get a slice in the back of my hand, went to my Doc and was sent to the ER to get it stitched up. Eight hours later I walked out with three stitches and a script for antibiotics. Four days later on a Monday I was to see my Doc so he could check the progress of healing. We found that the type of infection needed another type of antibiotic, so there was a prescription adjustment.
I was taking the antibiotics for the hand, and it healed up fine but my middle finger was swelling up and I was sent to a hand surgeon. After careful study he determined that the major infection was in the tendon sheath for the center finger on my right hand. Antibiotics can not penetrate tendon sheaths so the cure is to do surgery to open the finger and clean out the infection.
As I am getting ready for the surgery I go into my usual self hypnosis routine to aid in the success of the procedure and eliminate any residual pain along with promoting rapid healing. I was doing this right up to the time of going into surgery.
I saw my surgeon last Monday and he was amazed at how quickly and completely my healing was especially after the major problem that brought me to him. I could see that he looks like he is now opening up to the possibility (just a little) that hypnosis can be a very beneficial tool/aid to health and healing.
Be in Health.
