Survey Update

Sunday, July 20th, 2008

While I have my survey online, I have also been asking people on the street their thoughts about hypnosis. I have been getting some interesting answers. One was from a man and his first response was that he had been a successful subject at a stage show at the fair. He was not happy with the experience since when he was brought out of trance the whole audience was laughing at him. When he saw the video of the event he was somewhat upset. He had been told to smack his back side and yell “Who is your daddy?” and he felt he had been made to look foolish. He was in deep trance.

Next he said he had tried hypnosis to stop smoking and it did not work, then he admitted that he was not ready to stop.  He said he had the same results with loosing weight. When I want to eat those donuts I want to eat donuts, so it did not work then either.

Here is an example of a person who is a good hypnotic subject, yet he is not ready to do what is necessary to achieve the results that  he knows would be beneficial to him if he were to really want the results.

A lot of  the other people I talked with knew little or nothing about hypnosis, heard that it exists yet it had never been in any way near their lives so they had no real knowledge about it.

Others thought that it could be beneficial and they would like to achieve better self confidence and self worth, while a few were interested in stop smoking or weight loss.

I shall continue gathering this information to get a broader base for statistical purposes.

I am finding it interesting that very few people post actual comments to any of my posts. You can do the reply by either just direct posting comments on this site OR you can post comments at “comments@hypnoticpro.com”

Limits to Hypnosis?

Thursday, May 29th, 2008

Hypnosis is a very powerful tool for working on self or others. Hypnosis is not a cure all. There are some things that need to be dealt with before hypnosis can be used to do its work. There will be times when someone has physically related medical problems. These should be taken care of prior to doing the hypnotic work.

I liken this to when I was working in the alcohol and drug recovery field. Once a year My boss and I would go to the county mental health facility and give trainings on how to recognize alcoholism and drug addictions. Sometimes these alcoholics or addicts would be referred to the mental health clinic showing signs of some diagnosed condition.

The clinicians would interview them as usual and these clients would not give the full truth about their usage  of substance. The clinician would then start treating the client for the diagnosed condition and wonder why the treatment was not working over time. The client was still drinking and/or using like usual for them and were never going to respond appropriately while still drinking and/or using.

By training the clinicians to watch for certain  minimizing phrases and some physical clues given by alcoholic/addicts the clinician could go deeper into that area and then refer these clients to a rehab facility, ours or other private facilities. Then if the client was willing to actually participate in their own recovery and still exhibited symptoms of mental health problems, then they could go back to mental health. Usually though once they got clean and sober the apparent mental health symptoms disappeared.

So if you or I encounter a client with other physical/medical problems, have them get checked out by a medical doctor and follow the MD’s prescription for health and then go for the hypnotic treatment. Even Milton Erickson knew that there are limits as to what we can do with hypnosis. There are certain people who can not be helped, he talked about one sociopath who murdered five people and he knew that there was nothing that he could do to help rehabilitate this person.

So there are some limits as to who we can help to cure themselves. Start out giving them the best you can to help them improve, but if you are working harder at their recovery than they are,  that might be a clue that you need back off and possibly refer them to another practitioner who might be more qualified in that particular area. If that does not work then bless them and send them on their way.

The sad truth is that we can not always help all of them.

Be in health,

Keith

Hypnosis Forums

Monday, March 31st, 2008

My, I just got done exploring a new found (for me) forum. It is http://www.hypnosisonline.com/forum . I was reading through a number of the categories, each of which had some interesting posts. Then I entered the “general” category.

That category consists of three very long pages of posts on hypnosis. Different ideas on how get started in hypnosis, I agree with some of them that when you have very specific situations that you want to work with, the best way is one on one with a certified hypnotist.

This is also the best way to learn self hypnosis is with another hypnotist. There are also some general areas  where CD’s and MP3’s can also be beneficial.

There is also another area of Hypnosis, that is the entertainment or Hypnotic Stage Show. Probably one third of all of the posts related to Marshal Sylver, who in my mind is the Worlds Greatest Stage Hypnotist. His shows are very entertaining and fun! If you pay attention there is also a lot of educational material there too as to how to work with other people.

I think he is a quality person, I have had the opportunity to work personally with him and would recommend his Turning Point Seminar to most people who are looking to continue their personal growth. I also have a couple pairs of tickets to the Turning Point Seminar at a discounted price.

If interested go back to my home page and sign in and give me your contact info with the words “Turning Point Tickets” in the comments box and we will get you to see Marshal in person.

As I continue to find other interesting places related to Hypnosis I will continue to convey the information to my readers.

A healthy life to all!

Hypnotic Awesome Joy!

Saturday, February 23rd, 2008

Right now I am feeling extremely elated at finally having this Blog function operational on my HypnoticPro.com site!

Basically I will be writing about hypnosis and what an excellent tool it is. You can use it in the form of self hypnosis or you can be the subject as someone else guides you into the areas of your choosing.

I personally use it for deep relaxation, internal alarm clock, pain management, there are many ways to use this tool.
